You're invited to a kiddush to celebrate the wedding of Miriam and Marc

Over the past year, Marc and I have enjoyed spending time with you, sharing Shabbat meals, celebrating holidays, and being part of the Grad Network community, and we have really appreciated everyone's good wishes and support throughout our engagement. We'd like to invite you to join with our family and friends in celebrating with us on Saturday, June 14th, which is the Shabbat before our wedding.

Orthodox services will be held at Steinhardt Hall beginning at 9:00 a.m. and kiddush will be held on the first floor beginning at approximately 11:15 a.m. Not a morning person? Orthodox services not your style? Feel free to come just for the kiddush.

We hope you can be there to celebrate with us!

Shavuot is this Sunday night! And boy do I have a story for you...

Shavuot is coming! It may not have a sukkah or a seder, but Shavuot is one of the "big three" pilgrimage festivals. Occurring exactly 7 weeks after Passover (the word Shavuot itself means "weeks"), it celebrates both an agricultural harvest and the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai.

To celebrate this important (and sadly, often forgotten) holiday, join us this Sunday night, June 8, for "Boy do I have a story you... Tikkun Leil Shavuot," in conjunction with Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel, complete with entertainment, discussion, and plenty of cheesecake!

The festivities will be held at BZBI at 18th and Spruce. Come for any or all of the evening's activities, which start at 7:45 pm with services and will last until 1:00 am.

Why so late? Why all the hype about cheesecake? What's a Tikkun? Did Jews really invent the all-nighter?
